Overview

One of the most incredible places to go trekking is the Chopta Tungnath trek, which can be found in the Gharwal area of the Himalayas in Uttarakhand. Trekking enthusiasts will find the nature sanctuary to be the ideal place to get away. The Chopta trip is sometimes referred to be a pilgrimage trip due to the fact that it passes through the Tungnath temple in the middle of the journey between Chopta and Chandrshila. People are required to pay a visit to the ancient temple of Tugnath, which is the Shiva temple. This temple is an important component of Hindu mythology. The journey to Chopta Tungnath is risk-free and involves a method that is less difficult to go to the summit of the mountain. Anyone is able to do the Chopta trek, which is rated as an easy level of difficulty.

Trek Plan

From Rishikesh to Chopta

This morning,  we will get an early start to reach Chopta. Since you will be spending seven to eight hours in the car, you may do things like listen to music, play antakshari, engage in conversation with other passengers, or explore and take pictures of the beautiful scenery from the window. Due to the fact that it is a lengthy journey to go, we have to enjoy the route and we will check in at the beautiful campsite afterwards.

From Chopta to Tungnath and back

Welcome to the mountain morning of today! This is going to be a challenging day, but we have a lot of things to look forward to throughout the day! We will begin our journey today, which will be rich of stories and will be a long walk to a high elevation. In the course of this six-kilometer long walk, you will get the opportunity to explore the land of tales. Tungnath, which is one of the Panch Kedars and is the highest Shiv Temple in the world, will be our destination when we reach an altitude of 3,680 metres. There is even additional reason why you should not pass up the opportunity to participate in this one! Simply continue our journey for a few more km, and we will arrive at Chandrashila Peak, which is the highest point of our journey. We have a view of the higher Himalayan peaks, including Nanda Devi, Bandarpunch, Chaukhamba, and Kedar Peak, from this vantage point, which encompasses a full 180 degrees. After some time has passed, we will begin our descent back to Chopta. At Chopta, we will have dinner and spend the night.

FAQ's

The best time to do the Kedarkantha Trek is typically from December to April when the region experiences snowfall and the landscapes are beautifully covered in snow. However, the trek can also be done during the summer months, from April to June, when the weather is milder and the snow has melted.

The Kedarkantha Trek is considered to be of moderate difficulty. It involves trekking through varying terrain, including forests, meadows, and snow-covered trails. While it's suitable for beginners, some prior trekking experience and a reasonable level of fitness are recommended.

The Kedarkantha Trek typically takes around 5 days to complete. This includes trekking from Sankri village to the Kedarkantha summit and back, with overnight stays at various campsites along the way.

The summit of Kedarkantha Peak stands at an altitude of approximately 12,500 feet (3,800 meters) above sea level.

Accommodation during the Kedarkantha Trek typically consists of tents or guesthouses at various campsites along the route. Some operators also offer fixed tented camps with basic amenities like sleeping bags, mattresses, and meals.

Essential items to pack for the Kedarkantha Trek include appropriate clothing (layers for cold weather), trekking shoes, a sturdy backpack, water bottles, energy snacks, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, personal medications, and a first aid kit. It's also advisable to carry a trekking pole and a good quality sleeping bag.

While the altitude of Kedarkantha Peak is not extremely high, some trekkers may experience symptoms of altitude sickness, especially if ascending too quickly. It's important to acclimatize properly, stay hydrated, and listen to your body. If symptoms persist or worsen, it's advisable to descend to a lower altitude.
