Manali
In Hindi, the term “Kund” refers to a small pond, and the name “Beas Kund” was given to the pond in honour of Rishi Sage Vyas. This little and high-altitude alpine lake of Beas Kund is located in the higher and upper valley of Solang, which is located at the north end of Manali and at the foot of Mt. Shitidhar, Ladakhi, and Friendship peak. It is situated at an elevation of 3,700 metres which is equivalent to 12,139 feet. If you are interested in climbing surrounding summits such as Shitidhar, Friendship, and Ladakhi peak (5,345 m), this is the perfect base camp for you. The majestic mountain of Hanuman Tibba, which is 5,990 metres in height and can be reached by a narrow pass located above this lake, is located on the western side of Beas Kund. In the vicinity of Beas Kund, the whole region is encircled by breathtaking mountains and their glaciers. Our Beas Kund trip begins at Dhundi, which is located eight kilometres away from Solang Nala, Solang, which is a well-known resort for skiing during the winter months and other outdoor activities during the summer months. Beginning from Dhundi, the track travels along the stream as it ascends to Beas Kund and Seven Sisters Peak, Hanuman Tibba, and Friendship Peak. This path stays visible for the whole of the walk. On the Beas Kund hike, you will be treated to a breathtaking panorama of snow-covered mountains all around you. Easy walking for people of all ages. Let’s together Embark on an exhilarating journey through the heart of the Himalayas with the Beas Kund trek.Â
Manali, which is located close to the valley’s lowest point, is not only one of the most popular tourist destinations in Himachal Pradesh but also one of the most well-known tourist destinations in the world. The word “Manali” conjures up images of waterfalls and the sound of songbirds, as well as woods and orchards and stunning glacial mountains. Manali is the actual beginning point of a historic trade route that traverses the Rohtang and Baralacha passes, travels through Lahul and Ladakh, and ultimately leads to Kashmir. Additionally, a diverging road establishes a connection between Manali and Spiti. Currently, the motor connection has been established all the way up to Kaza in Lahul and Spiti, as well as Leh in Jammu and Kashmir, and the Pangi valley in Chamba. During the summer months, Manali is the starting point for frequent bus services that go to these locations. Around forty-five km away from Kullu is where you will find it.
There is a fascinating tradition about Manali that states that Manu, the author of the “Manu Samhita,” first walked on earth from the heavenly boat at a location in this country after the great deluge. This narrative is said to have occurred after the world was flooded. “Manu-Alaya,” which literally translates to “the abode of Manu,” is the term that is often used to refer to the location where he erected his residence. This specific location is now known as Manali. In the hamlet of Manali, there is still a temple that is devoted to the god Manu.
Explore mall road in the evening and take rest for the night in the hotel after dinner.
After breakfast, we get in our vehicle and go to Dhundi, passing via Solang Nala on the way. An hour’s journey from Manali will get us to Dhundi, which is the beginning site of the hike that we are doing. In Manali, Solang serves as the starting point for all adventure activities. From Solang to Dhundi, the route travels along the right side of the river, passing through forests of pine, walnut, and silver birch. The distance from Solang to Dhundi extends to a distance of eight km. After departing from Dhundi, we begin our journey along the path that follows the river as it flows upstream in a gentle manner until we reach Bakarthach, which is a route that is roughly 5 km long. The path is straightforward and can be found to the left of the Seven Sisters peak as it ascends. While traversing the treeline and walking under these peaks, one may get a view of the Bakarthach meadows. Make your way to the Bakarthach camp. You will be able to get a view of Deo Tibba, which is standing at 6,001 metres, and the Indrasan peak, which is standing at 6,220 metres, to the south of Dhundi.
Today, after breakfast, we make a cautious ascent to Beas Kund trek final point, which involves traversing stones and rocks for a brief period of time. As we go on, we will soon come across the little lake known as Beas Kund, which is said to be the origin of the River Beas. Furthermore, the base camp for the magnificent hiking peaks of Mount Shitidhar, Ladakhi, and Friendship is an essential component. These peaks may be climbed by a skilled trekker who departs from Beas Kund at an early hour. Makerbeh and Shikhar Beh are the mountains that are higher than 6,000 metres. The area of the Lahaul valley may be found to the north of BeasKund, just behind the massive wall that these mountains form. Kangra, which is located to the west, and the Dhauladhar range, which is located in the more lower part of the Himalayas. Following our excursion to the lake and exploration of the Beas Kund region, we make our way back to the Bakarthach camp for an overnight stay.
Today, after breakfast, we will depart Bakarthach and make our way back to Dhundi, the place where we began our walk on the first day. If you are interested in quad biking, paragliding, or any of the other activities that are available in Solang Nala, then we spent a few hours here before heading to Manali.

The best time to do the Kedarkantha Trek is typically from December to April when the region experiences snowfall and the landscapes are beautifully covered in snow. However, the trek can also be done during the summer months, from April to June, when the weather is milder and the snow has melted.
The Kedarkantha Trek is considered to be of moderate difficulty. It involves trekking through varying terrain, including forests, meadows, and snow-covered trails. While it's suitable for beginners, some prior trekking experience and a reasonable level of fitness are recommended.
The Kedarkantha Trek typically takes around 5 days to complete. This includes trekking from Sankri village to the Kedarkantha summit and back, with overnight stays at various campsites along the way.
The summit of Kedarkantha Peak stands at an altitude of approximately 12,500 feet (3,800 meters) above sea level.
Accommodation during the Kedarkantha Trek typically consists of tents or guesthouses at various campsites along the route. Some operators also offer fixed tented camps with basic amenities like sleeping bags, mattresses, and meals.
Essential items to pack for the Kedarkantha Trek include appropriate clothing (layers for cold weather), trekking shoes, a sturdy backpack, water bottles, energy snacks, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, personal medications, and a first aid kit. It's also advisable to carry a trekking pole and a good quality sleeping bag.
While the altitude of Kedarkantha Peak is not extremely high, some trekkers may experience symptoms of altitude sickness, especially if ascending too quickly. It's important to acclimatize properly, stay hydrated, and listen to your body. If symptoms persist or worsen, it's advisable to descend to a lower altitude.
